American Epic: The Sessions – In the heart of Hollywood, in a perfect recreation of the atmosphere and conditions of America’s first ever recording studios, today’s music stars perform in American Epic: The Sessions. Elton John, Willie Nelson, Alabama Shakes, Merle Haggard, Ana Gabriel, Jack White, Nas, Beck, Los Lobos and Steve Martin are among the artists who test their skills against the demands of the recording machine that first captured American music. The Western Electric lathe is as much the star as the stars who queued up to record on it. Driven by a weight and pulley that allows for only three minutes and, once started, the recording cannot be stopped. As each artist records their track straight to wax, we witness them relive the experience of their musical idols.
