The Real O.J. Simpson Trial (1 x 12 hour marathon) – Ito, Cochran, Shapiro, Scheck, Kardashian, Furman, Kaelin, Clark, Darden, and of course, O.J. “The Juice” Simpson – these were the players in the real-life courtroom drama that played out over two decades ago when “the trial of the century” kept Americans glued to their television sets day and night. State of California vs. Orenthal James Simpson changed forever how the media covered crime in this country, as TV cameras, reporters and news agencies from around the world descended upon Los Angeles, remaining camped out in front of Los Angeles Superior Court for nearly a year, from the time the jury was sworn in on November 9, 1994 until announcement of the verdict on October 3, 1995.
This broadcast marathon recaps the trial from opening arguments to final verdict, featuring archival footage straight from the courtroom of the 1995 murder trial of actor and sports hero/retired professional football running back Orenthal James “O.J.” Simpson, accused of the brutal deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson, his ex-wife and the mother of their children, and her friend Ronald Goldman, on the evening of June 12, 1994.
Viewers will relive the most intriguing, controversial and poignant moments from the trial, including opening statements from both the prosecution and the defense, key witness and police testimonies, the infamous “gloves” moment, closing statements and, finally, the stunning verdict that was delivered on October 3, 1995. No re-enactments, voice-overs, dramatics or theatrics can replace the facts and the polarizing figures who were in that courtroom every day during the trial. It took the jury only four hours to reach their verdict, but viewers will have 12 hours to come to their own conclusion.
