Secrets of a Police Marksman w/t (1 x 60′) – Tony Long is the most prolific police marksman Britain has ever seen. Deployed on hundreds of dangerous operations to bring down terrorists, killers and hostage takers, he has been behind some of the UK’s most controversial police shootings. But it was the death of suspected armed robber and drug dealer Azelle Rodney that landed him in court for murder and destroyed the career of the Met’s leading firearms practitioner.
Speaking for the first time on television, Long will reveal what it is like to shoot and kill people in the line of duty, and how his life crumbled around him with the Rodney case. He explores the complex relationship the police have with firearms, 50 years after the force first began carrying arms in the UK and exposes the personal cost that officers face when they take the lives of others, in the name of the law.
