Greenlit: What Has The Turner Prize Ever Done For Us? BBC2

What Has The Turner Prize Ever Done For Us? w/t (1 x 30′)  –  The Turner Prize is probably the most prestigious contemporary art prize in the world. It puts art in the headlines, not always for the right reasons, bringing it to the attention of a wider audience in Britain. This episode of Artsnight looks back over three decades of critical acclaim, public outcry and artistic controversy. It hears from the winners, nominees and judges to find out what the history of the prize can tell us about our relationship to the relevance and purpose of contemporary art. This will be a story of the prize and its place in our culture, told by the people closest to it.
